The Midwest Astrochemistry Consortium is a new organization designed to bring together chemists, physicists, and astronomers in the midwestern region of the U.S. who are working in the interdisciplinary area of astrochemistry. The motivation is that at any given university or institute there are relatively few people working in this field, so uniting on a regional level can provide us with more opportunities for discussion and cross-fertilization of research ideas.

Our first event was a meeting that is co-sponsored by the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago, on April 20, 2007. More information about this meeting can be found here.

Our second event was our inaugural annual meeting MWAM08, held on the campus of the University of Illinois on November 7-8, 2008. We expect to host the next meeting at Illinois in the fall of 2009.

If you are interested in learning more about the consortium, please refer to the Midwest Astrochemistry Consortium site.
